Current ‘next generation’ family, initially referred to as the 737X, with increased wing, new high-lift devices, and greater range and speed. Maiden flight was made on 9 February 1997, and the 737-700 was the first to enter service with launch customer Southwest Airlines in October that year. Total delivered: 960.
